The holidays are approaching quickly, how do you engage with the rest of your office as a remote worker or work at home employee?
As a virtual employee or contractor this can be a challenge throughout the year, not only during the holidays.
Try these three strategies, rotating through one per week, and feel closer than ever to remote co-workers, supervisors, and customers.
1. Say thank you with a card or note.
The bad news is that we have become so accustomed to frequent electronic communications via text messages, emails, chat, and video calls that our attention spans have shortened to seconds.
The good news is that personalized notes and cards written on paper and sent via snail mail really catch someone’s attention.
Try it the next time you want to thank someone.
2. Try a video conference call instead of a regular conference call.
The majority of communication is delivered through visual cues.
An added advantage is being able to put a face to a name.
3. Meet in person if possible.
Live in the same city but work remotely? Visiting a city where co-workers live?
Plan to meet in person. Make it a regular event if possible.
